Newborn Photography

I recently had the pleasure of capturing the newborn photography session of a handsome baby boy who was just 2 weeks old. The session took place in my Ellicott City, Maryland studio, and it was such a joy to see the parents' love for their new little one.

We started the session with some simple poses, such as swaddled poses and poses with the baby's hands and feet. The baby was so wide awake, but content, so it was easy to get some beautiful shots. We were able to capture some adorable shots of him looking around and exploring his surroundings.

With the use of a sound machine and rocking, the baby went to sleep and we started to get more posed images of him in a Burgundy swaddle and also a basket. Of course there were some accident (as to be expected) but the photos made for gorgeous works of art.

The session was a wonderful way to capture the sweetness of newborn-hood. The parents were so happy with the results, and I was so glad that I could help them create memories that they will cherish forever!

If you're thinking about having a newborn photography session, here are a few tips:

  • Schedule your session when the baby is between 4 and 24 days old. This is the best time to capture their tiny features and soft skin.

  • Choose a photographer who has experience with newborn photography. They will know how to pose the baby and capture their best expressions.

  • Select a photogrpher who is a Mother themsleves. They’ll be able to understand your pain points and needs for the most relaxing session possible.

  • Be patient and relaxed. Newborns can be unpredictable, so it's important to be patient and go with the flow.
