Sunflower Photography

On a warm August evening, I met my clients at the Maple Lawn Sunflower fields for a family photography session! They drove all the way from Potomac, Maryland to Ellicott City for this fun experience! The Sunflowers of Lisbon has two locations, and their Maple Lawn location was in full bloom and perfect for photos. Every August I offer Sunflower photos and they always make for the most beautiful backdrop! We arrived at the field just as the sun was starting to set. The sunflowers were in full bloom, and the air was filled with their bright yellow petals.

I specialize in capturing natural photographs, but we all need a little help finding where to place arms and hands. I helped my clients pose in a way that captured the beauty of the sunflowers and the love between their family. I took pictures of them running through the field, laughing and hugging each other.

I am so grateful to work with such amazing families and even happier I had the opportunity to take these photos for them!

Here are some tips for taking a family photography session in a sunflower field at sunset:

• Choose a day when the sunflowers are in full bloom.

• Arrive at the field just before sunset, so that you can capture the golden hour light.

• Wear coordinating outfits in neutral colors, such as white, beige, or khaki.

• Be creative with your poses and take advantage of the beautiful scenery.
